Katie Holmes is helping recreate a day in American history no one can forget: November 22, 1963, the day of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

Filming the upcoming History Channel miniseries ‘The Kennedys‘ in Toronto on Friday, Holmes, as Jacqueline Kennedy, donned the iconic pink suit and pillbox hat worn by the First Lady when tragedy struck in Dallas, Texas.

In shock, the late Jackie Kennedy famously kept the chic suit on, blood-stained, after the President was shot, and while Vice President Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President on Air Force One.

“I feel really lucky to be playing her,” Holmes told of the part last month. “She not only had great style, but she [was] an artist [and] a writer. She was an illustrator. She was an editor,” added the wife of Tom Cruise and mom to daughter Suri, 4.
