Glenn Beck took a break from planning his “Restoring Honor” march in Washington D.C. Saturday to bash a CNN host.
The conservative Beck last week declared Rick Sanchez “the dumbest man ever on television.”
Beck’s radio-show rant came after Sanchez, host of the afternoon show “Rick’s List,” suggested someone should look into where the Catholic and Mormon churches spend their money. Beck is a Mormon.
“I honestly don’t know how the man ties his own shoes,” Beck said of Sanchez. “I’m sure he has slip-ons. Rick Sanchez, quite possibly the dumbest man on television. And that’s saying something, because there’s some dumb people on television.”
Beck made his case by giggling through clips of some of Sanchez’s blunders, including some fogginess on the length of a meter and whether or not volcanoes can exist in cold places. He also aired audio of Sanchez struggling with a Tele-prompter, reading out loud: “Ad-lib a tease here.”
Beck has been taking flack for the fact his rally, which is expected to draw largely from the Tea Party movement, is going to be held on the anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream Speech.”
Rev. Al Sharpton, whose National Action Network is also planning a march that day in the same spot, has called Beck’s event an “outright attempt to flip the imagery of Dr. King.”
Beck called the scheduling a coincidence.
