Stephen Moyer of ‘True Blood’ To Be The Next Dr. Doom?

Remember that new Fantastic Four movie reboot that Fox is working on? The one for which they’re trying to get Adrien Brody to play Mr. Fantastic? The latest bit of news is that the crucial role of the FF’s archnemesis, Dr. Victor Von Doom, has been offered to Stephen Moyer of ‘True Blood,’ aka the newly-minted Mr. Anna Paquin.

Still no director yet, but Fox is said to be aggressively pursuing Brody in order to raise the caliber of the films. Alice Eve is said to be the frontrunner to play the Invisible Woman, and newcomer Kevin Pennington is the name that’s bubbled up to take on the Human Torch to a completely computer-generated Thing. Moyer, however, has an interesting choice, because a proper Dr. Doom would have to be wearing a metal mask for the bulk of the film. Then again, it’s hardly unprecedented for actors to find a way around that sticking point – see how often Tobey Maguire’s mask is torn in Spider-Man movies.

Do you think Moyer could do Marvel’s premier supervillain justice, and make Dr. Doom as cool and intimidating a presence as Darth Vader?

Watch a clip of Dr. Doom and the FF in action from the previous film, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and see what Moyer would be compared to.
