One of the most controversial teenage moms of late, Bristol Palin, had quite the honest answer when asked why she accepted the offer to appear on the new season of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’

“ABC contacted me a few weeks ago and I jumped right on board without hesitation. Yeah, this is going to be awesome. This is going to get me out of Alaska for a while. Get me into something new, something fun,” the 19-year-old daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin told Fancast after the live cast announcement in Hollywood Monday night.

But it’s not exactly what you think.

“So, it’s a good way to escape the drama?” we asked, hinting that her recent baby daddy drama — namely breaking up with Levi Johnston just weeks after a shocking engagement announcement — might be a good reason to escape to La La Land for a bit.

“Yeah, well it’s good to see other parts of the country,” Palin said. “Tripp is going to love hanging around the pool in California. It’s going to be great,” she said, revealing her two-year-old son Tripp will be heading to Los Angeles with her while she appears on the dance competition.

Palin also hinted that we might see her famous mom rooting for her in the audience. “Hopefully she’ll be able to catch a show or two, yeah.”

With just two rehearsals under her belt so far, Bristol says it’s definitely a challenge for her: “It’s all hard. It’s such a foreign language, but it’ll be great. I have zero dance experience so we’re starting from scratch. Not even cheerleading experience. I’ve got basketball, volleyball, and soccer experience, but no dance experience.”

On Wednesday, ABC announces the stars’ professional partners and on Sept. 20, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 11 premieres.
