Sigh – ‘Saturday Night Live‘ is daring to deviate from Fancast’s wish list of Season 36 hosts.

‘SNL’ Hosts We Want To See: Jane Lynch, Bryan Cranston And More

After heeding our advice to book ‘Breaking Bad’ boy Bryan Cranston (he’ll host on October 2) and Emmy-winning ‘Glee’ scene-stealer Jane Lynch (Oct. 9), NBC’s late-night sketch show has returned to the round-up of usual suspects and tapped former cast member/‘Parks and Recreation’ star Amy Poehler to oversee the September 25 season premiere.

Bryan Cranston Set To Host ‘SNL’

We love Amy, of course. But since she birthed a baby only a few weeks ago and cohosted the show alongside Betty White just this past May, we had suggested that ‘SNL’ instead give her hubby Will Arnett – who has a new sitcom (Fox’s ‘Running Wilde’) to pimp, and one that actually airs this fall – a shot at the stage.

Serving as musical guest for the opener is a little-exposed chanteuse named Katy Perry. Perhaps you caught her ditty called “California Gurls” once or twice this summer?

MacGoner! Will Forte Exits ‘Saturday Night Live’

In announcing Poehler’s booking, EW.com also confirmed that with Will Forte having moved on, ‘SNL’ is adding four new faces to its ensemble for the coming season: Taran Killam (‘Mad TV’), Chicago-based comedians Paul Brittain and Vanessa Bayer, and newcomer Jay Pharoah.
