Lindsay Lohan‘s “Road To Redemption Tour” may next lead her to Studio 8H, as host of ‘Saturday Night Live.’

On the heels of the troubled, recently jailed starlet’s cameo during the MTV Video Music Awards – in a pretaped bit, she encouraged host Chelsea Handler to (irony alert!) choose sobriety – Lohan is in talks to host the long-running sketch show for a third time, sources tell the New York Daily News. (Per policy, NBC declined to comment on the rumored talks.)

Lindsay Lohan Pokes Fun At Self With ‘Sobering’ VMAs Cameo

Already for this fall, ‘SNL’ has booked alumna Amy Poehler, ‘Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and ‘Glee’ Emmy winner Jane Lynch to oversee the first three forays of Season 36, which premieres September 25. And all of that works out well, since the terms of Lohan’s early jail release are keeping her days very busy with psychotherapy, addiction counseling and 12-step meetings. That regimen, though, will be eased as of November 1 – right around when ‘SNL should have vacancies to fill.

Scoop! ‘Chuck’ Plus ‘SNL’s Ana Gasteyer Equals Pure Torture

Lohan first hosted ‘SNL’ in May 2004, where she most memorably played a “blossoming” Hermione in a ‘Harry Potter’ sketch. Her encore came in April 2006, where much fun was made of her tabloid headline-grabbing behavior.

‘SNL’ Picks Poehler and Katy Perry For Premiere, Adds Four New Players

If ‘SNL’ wants/will have her, do you think LiLo is playing her bid for a career revival right? A jokey awards show cameo here, a hosting gig there…. Remind people that she does command the camera, and even has some comedic timing. Next stop: ‘Glee’?

The American public has “forgiven” celebrities for far worse; is Lohan’s (latest) second chance all but a given?
