Lauren Conrad is heading back to her reality roots.
The 24-year-old reality TV star has signed a deal with MTV for a new reality show at the network. Conrad revealed the news to Ryan Seacrest Friday morning on his KIIS-FM radio show, confirming the recent rumors that L.C. was getting back to reality.
“It’ll be something very different,” explained the budding fashion designer, who launched a clothing line for Kohl’s, saying that the series would follow her “career” — and adding that her boyfriend Kyle Howard “will not be on it.”
She declined to give additional details, but the show is rumored to be a cross between her fellow ‘Hill’s fashionista Whitney Port (who launched her own spin-off in ‘The City’) and Bravo’s to ‘Die’ for style maven, ‘The Rachel Zoe Project.’
Contradicting the declaration that she was done with reality TV when she bolted from ‘The Hills‘ in 2009, Conrad now says she’s game, but the rules will change.
“I’ve always been open to doing reality again,” she said. “Just under different circumstances. As long as you have a separation, then it works. You have your personal life and you have work life; when it’s combined, it’s difficult.”
Shooting is slated to begin in October; an official announcement from MTV is expected next week.
This will be the third MTV reality series for Conrad, who got her start on ‘Laguna Beach‘ and then graduated to ‘The Hills.’
Since leaving the airwaves, Conrad wrote two best-selling books, “L.A. Candy” and “Sweet Little Lies” — and has two more on the way: “Lauren Conrad Style” and the “L.A. Candy” follow-up, “Sugar and Spice,” due out next month.
