Letterman to LaBeouf: “Go F*** Yourself.”

It’s not often you hear a late night host drop an f-bomb on one of his guests, but David Letterman does have a reputation for being rude to his guests from time to time. But even Dave rarely goes so far as to say to a guest “Why don’t you go f–k yourself?”

On last night’s ‘Late Show,’ he said that directly to Shia LaBeouf after a minor misunderstanding about the depth of the Grand Canyon. LaBeouf was describing a nine mile hike he took to the bottom of the Canyon, and Dave was incredulous that the Canyon could be nine miles deep and wanted to know the actual depth, which LaBeouf didn’t know. “But it was nine miles meandering. I know that,” LaBeouf said, with a hint of teasing in his voice. And that’s when Dave just looked at him with that curmudgeonly look he gets and let the f-word fly.

LaBeouf’s response was hardly offense though. He doubled over in laughter, because Dave was actually calling back to a story LaBeouf told about working on Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps with the notoriously difficult director Oliver Stone. Apparently, the young actor suggested Stone edit a line in his script, and Stone’s icy response was simply “I wrote Scarface. Go f–k yourself.”
