NBC’s coverage of the Jets-Miami game (J-E-T-S!) averaged 15.5 million total viewers and as such was the night’s most watched program, as the final big salvo of season premieres came to an end on Sunday.
The biggest casualty of that must-see NFL match-up: The Season 2 launch of CBS’ ‘Undercover Boss,’ which with approximately 11 million viewers was down sharply from its May finale. (The reality series’ Season 1 premiere audience of 38.6 million falls under the apples/oranges category, seeing as it aired after a little thing called the Super Bowl.)
Among scripted fare, the season premiere of ABC’s ‘Desperate Housewives‘ claimed top honors, delivering 12.83 million viewers – its largest audience since January 10. Also in the 9’clock hour, ‘The Amazing Race: Killer Watermelons Edition‘ was up 7 percent from its year-ago opener, with about 11.1 million viewers (CBS’ numbers are iffy, due to NFL overrun).
Other Sunday notes:
* Among Fox’s animated line-up, a ‘Family Guy‘ double bill delivered the best 18-to-49 demos of any of the night’s scripted shows.
* ABC’s ‘Brothers & Sisters‘ returned to an audience of 9.64 million, its best draw since Jan. 10.
