Who would you have cast as the brother of ‘Private Practice‘ doc Pete Wilder (Tim Daly)? Because I would challenge you to find a better fit than Kyle Secor, who has in fact landed the role.

The veteran of such TV series as ‘Homicide: Life On The Street’ and ‘Commander In Chief’ has been cast on the ABC drama as Adam Wilder, Fancast has learned exclusively, to appear in an upcoming Season 4 episode. The smart money says that Secor will appear in Episode 9 – the same one that will feature the arrival of Pete’s mother, to be played by Louise Fletcher (‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’).

Somewhat interestingly, Secor and ‘Private Practice’s Daly have shared the screen before, on the aforementioned ‘Commander In Chief.’ There, Secor played the First Gentleman to Geena Davis’ POTUS, while Daly guest-starred in an episode as an ambassador to China/VP candidate.

Secor’s more recent TV credits include guest-starring turns on (well, lookie here!) tonight‘s ‘Hawaii Five-O,’ ‘NBC’s ‘Outlaw,’ ‘The Gates’ and ‘The Closer.’

The introduction of Pete’s brother marks the latest branch of the Oceanside Wellness family tree to be explored. In previous seasons we have met relatives such as Addison’s brother (played by Grant Show) and parents (Stephen Collins and JoBeth Williams) and Charlotte’s two brothers.

ABC’s ‘Private Practice’ airs Thursdays at 10/9c.

What do you think of this casting of the Wilder brother?
Just what the doctor ordered?
