Michael Ausiello is reporting that former ‘Wire‘ star Gbenga Akinnagbe (Chris Partlow) has been cast in the upcoming third season of Showtime’s drama ‘Nurse Jackie.’

Akinnagbe will play a new temp nurse at All Saints for a seven-episode arc. He’s being described as “handsome, qualified, and much-liked by his peers.” (Aside: Can they please bring back Momo, too??!)

This news marks yet another big gig for a ‘Wire’ alum. Because it’s Fun Friday over here, let’s take a look at how well some of the other ‘Wire’ cast members are faring in TV-land at the moment:

1. Idris Elba (Stringer Bell): Elba currently stars as aggro former alcoholic detective John Luther on BBC America’s thriller ‘Luther.’

2. Michael K. Williams (Omar Little): Williams currently stars as moonshine-slinging gangster (aka the 1920s version of Omar) Chalky White in HBO’s prohibition-era drama ‘Boardwalk Empire.’

3. Wendell Pierce (Det. William “Bunk” Moreland) and Clarke Peters (Det. Lester Freamon): Both Pierce and Peters star in David Simon’s New Orleans drama ‘Treme;’ Pierce as struggling trombonist Antoine Batiste, and Peters as struggling bar owner Albert Lambreaux.

4. Chris Bauer (Frank Sobotka): Bauer stars as hapless Bon Temps sheriff Andy Bellefleur on HBO’s ‘True Blood.

5. Lance Reddick (Lt. Cedric Daniels) and Andre Royo (Bubbles): Reddick currently stars as Agent Phillip Broyles on Fox’s ‘Fringe,’ while Royo will be reprising his role as Olivia’s (Anna Torv) alt-verse taxi-driving ally Henry Arliss Higgins on the sci-fi drama.

6. Amy Ryan (Off. Beatrice ‘Beadie’ Russell): Ryan’s got double billing! Beginning Monday, she stars as Paul Weston’s (Gabriel Byrne) new patient Adele in the third season of ‘In Treatment.’ Her second gig? Michael Scott’s (Steve Carell) “soup snake,” Holly Flax, on ‘The Office.’

7. Tristan Wilds (Michael Lee): Wilds currently stars as teen Dixon Wilson on The CW’s ‘90210.’

8. Michael B. Jordan (Wallace): Jordan stars as West Dillon’s QB 1, Vince Howard, on NBC’s ‘Friday Night Lights.’ (Did you also catch the D’Angelo Barksdale aka Larry Gilliard Jr. ‘FNL’ guest appearance last season?)

9. John Doman (William A. Rawls): Doman will star as Rodrigo Borgia in Showtime’s highly-anticipated period drama ‘Borgia.’

10. Sonja Sohn (Det. Shakima “Kima” Griggs): Sohn stars as Det. Samantha Baker in ABC’s female-focused procedural ‘Body of Proof.’

Not half bad for a show that received heaps of critical praise but low viewership. Although we’re still waiting with bated breath for the Carver-Herc spin-off (that we just made up). On that note, isn’t it about time Dominic West (Jimmy McNulty) got his primetime just desserts?
