In the first of six episodes, ‘Walking Dead’ viewers met Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln), a small-town sheriff who, after being felled during a shoot-out, awoke from a coma to discover that his burg has been infested by “walkers.”

Rick is brought somewhat up to speed by a local man (played by the always-excellent Lennie James) who explains that once a person gets “bit,” he/she succumbs to a raging fever, dies, and then “comes back.” The only way to lay down a “walker” is with a gunshot (or other massive trauma) to the melon.

Anxious to find his wife, Lori, and son, Carl, whom he believes are still alive, Ricky appropriates a horse and hoofs it to Atlanta, where there is rumored to be a government-run “refugee center.”

Meanwhile, Lori (‘Prison Break’s Sarah Wayne Callies) and Carl – along with Rick’s partner from the sheriff’s department – are revealed to be a part of a  group of survivors who have made camp on the outskirts of the city. They hear a CB transmission from Rick, but A) fail to recognize his voice and B) are unable to communicate back a warning of what/who lurks in Atlanta.

Soon enough, Rick and his steed come face-to-face with the big city’s big trouble. But just when things look finished, done, finito, Rick hears what may the sound of salvation….

After an evening of Halloween revelry and disbursement of candy, did you treat yourself to a viewing of ‘The Walking Dead’? If so, how did it measure up to any expectations? Will you join Rick for the rest of his journey?
