Formerly known as ‘Ride-Along,’ the Chicago-set series recently underwent a name change that “reflects our belief that it’s more than just a cop show,” Ryan explained on Twitter. “It’s a show about the police, politics, the Midwest, history, the city’s code.”
“Plus adding ‘Chicago’ to anything is always a good idea,” he added.
Whatever the series’ title, the cast is headed by Jason Clarke (‘Brotherhood’), playing veteran police detective Jarek Wysocki, and Jennifer Beals (‘The L Word’), as Chicago PD’s first female superintendent, who is now in charge of a 10,000-member police force.
Other cast members include Matt Lauria (‘Friday Night Lights’) as Jarek’s young partner, Devin Kelley (‘Tease’) and Todd Williams (‘In Plain Sight’) as Jarek’s niece, a rookie cop, and her cocky partner, Delroy Lindo (‘Kidnapped’) as a powerful alderman, and Billy Lush (‘The Black Donnellys’) as a member of an Irish crime family.
Once ‘The Chicago Code’ claims its Mondays-at-9 time slot, ‘Lie To Me‘ will take a breather, just as it did last spring, and resume its third season at a later date.
