‘Morning Joe’ cohost Joe Scarborough has been suspended by MSNBC for two days after he copped to making eight contributions of $500 each to friends and family members running for local and state government offices.

As we learned earlier this month when MSNBC ordered Keith Olbermann to ride the pine “indefinitely” (read: for a couple of days), NBC Universal forbids political contributions by its employees unless permission is specifically granted by a network president.

“I recognize that I have a responsibility to honor the guidelines and conditions of my employment, and I regret that I failed to do so in this matter,” Scarborough said in a statement obtained by “I apologize to MSNBC and to anyone who has been negatively affected by my actions.”

Do you find it reassuring that MSNBC is being fair and enforcing its “no political contributions” policy with others, in the wake of the Olbermann sitch? Or, since Keith’s ‘Countdown’ enjoyed a ratings boost after his own hiatus, could this be some far-fetched plan to jack up ‘Morning Joe’s numbers?
