After decades of speculation, Ghostbusters 3 actually has an approved script, a director in Ivan Reitman and the original cast on board to pass the torch to a new generation of spook-chasers – but who they gonna call?
Many months ago, there was talk of the next-gen Ghostbusters being involving Seth Rogen and the Judd Apatow crew, but with this new script written by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg of ‘The Office,’ the casting rumors are now involving Will Forte and Bill Hader of ‘Saturday Night Live’ fame, which would be fitting considering that Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray are charter members of the Not Ready for Prime Time Players.
Also on the rumor list is Anna Faris, which would bring an interesting new element to the proceedings, but nothing at all has been confirmed yet on any of this. Aykroyd has given some details on the script, though, saying that “my character’s eyesight is shot, I got a bad knee, a bad hip—I can’t drive that caddy anymore or lift that Psychotron Accelerator anymore, it’s too heavy. We need young legs, new minds – new Ghostbusters; so I’m in essence passing the torch to the new regime, and you know what? That’s totally okay with me.”
But will it be okay with moviegoers? Will it be okay with you?
