Syfy Channel Cancels ‘Stargate Universe’

The TV galaxy is losing another space case.

Syfy has canceled “Stargate Universe,” according to Deadline Hollywood, who reports the “Stargate” spin-off will not be renewed for a third season.

The series, which starred Robert Carlyle, Lou Diamond Phillips and Ming-Na, will end its run after the upcoming second season, which consists of 10 episodes and is still scheduled to air in Spring 2011.

Syfy Channel Is Getting into the Movie Business

“SGU” is the latest in the “Stargate” franchise, which also includes “Stargate Atlantis” and “Stargate SG-1.”

The “Stargate” shows have aired on the Syfy Channel since 2002.

Syfy also recently canceled “Caprica,” the prequel to “Battlestar Galactica.”
