Larry King might be on his way out at CNN, but the storied interviewer isn’t ready to give up his competitive edge, as could be seen during his recent appearance on “Reliable Sources,” during which King took aim at Rachel Maddow and Sean Hannity.

While King spent many years cultivating a show based on straightforward interview questions, fellow cable hosts like Maddow and Hannity have built up reputations involving sharp opinion, a factor King doesn’t find appealing.

“I never learned anything when I was talking,” King told ‘Reliable Sources’ host Howard Kurtz. “[Hannity and Maddow] are preachers of their opinion. They’re telling you what they know. They’re not learning. There’s no learning experience from either of those programs.”

Aside from sniping at his former time slot rivals, King also discussed his thoughts on SNL parodies — “It means you’re being recognized” — and Bill Clinton calling attention to the news host as a way to ignore the general press — “to have a president say that, of course, a compliment, but it was extremely embarrassing.”
