As broadcast networks struggled to find a foothold this fall (Fox was down by 15%; ABC by 5%), cable television has proven a worthy competitor. While in many cases cable’s audience is comparatively smaller than network TV, there were several notable standouts this year. As USA Today reports (via Nielsen Media Research), some of the most impressive ratings gains were made by History, with reality hits “Pawn Stars” and “American Pickers”; MTV’s “Jersey Shore;” and E!’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Take a look at cable’s biggest hits of 2010:

No. 10:Deadliest Catch” (Discovery) 5.28 mil
No. 9:White Collar” (USA) 5.38 mil
No. 8:Pawn Stars” (History) 5.53 mil
No. 7:Jersey Shore” (MTV) 5.99 mil
No. 6:Burn Notice” (USA) 6.59 mil
