The family who put the “nasty” in “Dynasty” is back!
The reboot is described as a prequel that will be set in the 1960s and feature younger versions of the Carrington clan.
“It’s not the wild and crazy 1960s, but the early Kennedy years,” Shapiro said. “The story will focus on Blake’s discovery that he’s heir to the Carrington empire and his love affair with Alexis.”
The remake news doesn’t end there, especially for Aaron Spelling fans.
The modern “Charlie’s Angels” TV series will be set in Miami, where the sure-to-be sizzling trio of lady private detectives will bust-up the bad guys. The project will be co-executive produced by Drew Barrymore, who brought “Charlie’s Angels” to the big-screen in 2000 and 2003.
Back to TV’s legendary prime-time soap, “Dynasty” depicted the exploits of the bold, beautiful and blindingly rich Carringtons and starred John Forsythe (who died in April 2010 at age 92) as oil magnate Blake Carrington, Linda Evans as ‘the good wife’ Krystle and Joan Collins as villainess, first wife Alexis.
Casting hasn’t begun on the prequel, but the script is expected to be shopped around to studios soon.
Shapiro added he hopes the prequel will be the first in a “Dynasty” film franchise.
