SNL’s Fred Armisen and former Sleater-Kinney guitarist/vocalist Carrie Brownstein (aka the comedy duo ThunderAnts) have teamed up for “Portlandia,” a new sketch show premiering on IFC this Friday. Don’t want to wait 3 more days to watch their hilarious take on bird appliqué enthusiasts, aggro bike messengers, and feminist bookstore owners? You don’t have to! We’ve got a sneak peek of the first episode right here:
Although Portland is ostensibly the show’s backdrop, “Portlandia is a world unto itself,” Brownstein tells us. “If you went there, you could go to the feminist bookstore and you could have the sense that somehow Toni or Candice [the aforementioned bookstore owners] might know the bird couple – so it creates these layers of familiarity.”
Executive produced by “Saturday Night Live” boss Lorne Michaels, “Portlandia” premieres on IFC this Friday, January 21 at 10:30/9:30c.
Tell us: Are you excited to see their zany humor on display? Be sure to check back later in the week for a full interview with Brownstein.
