Joan and Melissa Rivers have conquered the red carpet and Donald Trump’s boardroom – but can they hack it as roommates?

For their new WE show “Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?” (Jan. 25, 9/8c), Hollywood’s most notorious mother-daughter team spent last summer bunking up at Melissa’s Los Angeles home, where staunch New Yorker Joan had something to say about everything from her daughter’s new live-in boyfriend to the hot, young nanny looking after grandson Cooper.

“People really have not explored the dynamic of our mother-daughter relationship as adults,” Melissa told us over the weekend.  “A lot of people are having their parents move back in.  It is that whole boomerang thing.  It is very timely.  And it is hard.”

What did you and your mom learn about each other from this experience?
It is tough.  I think I have learned to listen better.  And to be able to not hear so much negative and pick out the positive and hang on to that.

Have you had other roommate situations?
I have a friend who just recently moved out who lived with me for two years while he was getting his life together.  And my boyfriend and I live together.

Your mom seemed surprised by that.  But how could she not know?
Jason has always kept his own place and literally his lease came up at the end of spring and we made the decision not to renew the lease on his place.

Is he still living with you?
Oh, yes.  It is going great…knock on wood.

Do you see another wedding in your future?
I don’t think so.  I am wedding-phobic.

Joan Rivers’ Opinion On Palin Sparks Feud With Fox News Channel

Can you give me an update on the Fox News situation?
Yes.  Our official response is “Liar, liar, pants on fire.”

Has she gotten any response from Sarah Palin?
No.  Why would we?  But the fact that Fox News and Sarah Palin are so concerned about what Joan Rivers says is really the most frightening part of this whole thing when you think about it.

Why should people watch this show?
Because it is funny.  And it is real.  People really have not explored the dynamic of the mother-daughter relationship as adults.  A lot of people are having their parents move back in.  It is that whole boomerang thing.  It is very timely.  And it is hard.

“Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?” premieres January 25 at 9/8c on WeTV.
