Over-the-top theatrics, fierce competitors, slamming bodies, baby oil and spray tans … wow, “Dancing” and wrestling sure have a lot in common!
Does that mean a pro wrestler would have a leg up on the competition on “Dancing with the Stars“?
Then look out, because professional wrestler Chris Jericho might be jumping out of the ring and onto the dance floor … he’s the latest celebrity rumored to be among the contestants on the upcoming season.
Buzz surrounded the WWE star last year too, though, so we’ll have to wait until the official cast announcement for Season 12 of “DWTS” is revealed next Monday night, Feb. 28, during “The Bachelor” to know for sure, but it’s shaping up to be another wild-card cast.
What we do know is that there won’t be a “Flashdancer” in the ballroom this season. Jennifer Beals, who starred in the 1983 dance-anthem movie, recently revealed she turned down producers’ offer to go “Dancing” (inspired by last season’s ’80s flashback with “Dirty Dancing” winner Jennifer Grey, no doubt).
“I am not a dancer,” Beals told People. “They asked me and I said No. You could back up a truck to my door filled with cash and I wouldn’t do it.”
But there is one TV personality who’s allegedly ready to get her groove on: Wendy Williams. Despite a denial from Williams’ rep, a source tells Page Six that “The Wendy Williams Show” is going on hiatus next month while the talk-show host participates on the dance competition show.
Meanwhile, Rev. Al Sharpton confesses he’s turned down an offer to appear on the show, not because he’s not game — “I’ve got moves … I’D BLOW ‘EM OUT!!” — he recently told TMZ, but because he’s just too darn busy.
Season 12 of “Dancing with the Stars” kicks off on Monday, March 12 on ABC.
