Like it or not, Elegance is about to show up semi-nude on a flatscreen near you: On Feb. 23 (10/9c), “Real Housewives of New York City” star Countess LuAnn de Lesseps will debut her acting skills (and some leg) on NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU.”
Although a seasoned pro at reality TV, the Countess admits that jumping into the scripted realm was nerve-wracking.
“I was a bit nervous,” she told reporters during a recent conference call. “I mean, these actors are such pros…[but] they were very helpful and very supportive of me and that made me feel really good. It created a very positive place for me to try my hand at acting. And I must say I got into it, I got into it.”
The new episode, which is simply entitled “Bully,” features the Countess as an art collector indirectly tied to a murder—and for you “Real Housewives” fans, no, Kelly Bensimon is not the victim. However, according to co-executive producer Dan Truly, the storyline rides on the theme of adult bullying.
“The message is that it can happen at any age, and it’s not just a childhood phenomenon,” he said. “In fact the emotions that adult bullies seem to exhibit are childish and kind of stem from the same place psychologically, but it does not necessarily end when somebody gets out of high school.”
Regardless of the heavy theme, the Countess is just happy to get high-profile acting gigs like “SVU” and hopes to get more in the future.
“I’ve already been called to do another appearance on another pilot on, I think, USA Network, so I hope to do more roles,” she confessed. “I would love to go on ’30 Rock,’ for example. So you can put the word out there, okay? I’m saying it: ‘Tina Fey, call me.’”
Watch NBC’s “Law & Order SVU” with the Countess next Wednesday at 10/9c.
