‘Game of Thrones’ Premiere: HBO To Air First 15 Minutes Early

Winter is coming early. Well, the opening 15 minutes of it are. On April 3 at 9/8c HBO will air the first quarter of the “Game of Thrones” premiere two weeks before the fantasy drama’s debut on April 17, the network confirmed to us Friday.

This tidbit comes hot on the heels of EW’s reveal yesterday that after six years, A Dance with Dragons, the fifth book in “Thrones” writer George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series, is hitting shelves on July 12, 2011.

In other 7 Kingdoms news, HBO has released a new teaser offering an inside look at the world of Westeros. For the uninitiated, the video is an excellent primer, featuring commentary from Martin, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and even Ned Stark (Sean Bean) and The Bastard Snow (Kit Harington). For those familiar with the original source material, it’s an incredible thrill to see Winterfell, King’s Landing, and especially The Wall(!), actualized. Check it out below:
