‘American Idol’: Casey Abrams Out Of The Hospital

Good news for Casey Abrams. The “American Idol” favorite who’s been struggling with serious stomach problem was released from the hospital. “Casey came out of hospital this afternoon,” wrote executive producer Nigel Lythgoe on his Twitter page Sunday. “I hope he doesn’t have to go back? Send positive thoughts! Thank you.” The outgoing Abrams missed last Thursday’s elimination show after being hospitalized for the second time in two weeks, and he received a get well shout out from his “Idol” cohorts. Abrams’ problem? Ulcerative colitis, reported People magazine, which added the singer “received two blood transfusions Thursday night.” Later, Abrams himself tweeted, “Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better.” At the “Idol” finalists party, he claimed to be on the mend. “I just have to not eat bad things, that’s all,” he told xfinityTV.com. “I’m gonna take better care of myself – go to sleep earlier, eat smart things.” Fans are hoping he rebounds long enough to remain in the competition. In other “Idol” news, Lythgoe told his Twitter followers that he’s looking into raising money to Japanese earthquake victims, and Katherine McPhee said that she is starting her first day on the set of the NBC pilot, “Smash.”
