What are the qualifications to be crowned a “Breakout King”? Well, it helps if you’re a veteran of “Prison Break,” the late, lamented Fox series starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell about a group of convicts busting out of a penitentiary.

This particular “Prison Break” vet is none other than the notorious Theodore Bagwell – aka “T-Bag” – perhaps the most sadistic of the “Prison Break” cons who brings his break-out skills and penchant for ruthless violence this Sunday to A&E’s “Breakout Kings” (10/9c), the drama series about a group of cons who have been recruited to work with police to track and collar escapees.

T-Bag – played by Robert Knepper – was apparently so well-remembered (although almost universally loathed) that the producers of “Breakout Kings” have invited the actor and the character to reprise the role for their show. It’s a rare instance where a TV character from a former TV series returns to TV as a guest character in another show long after the character’s original show has left the air (“Prison Break” was last seen in 2009). In this case, the reappearance of T-Bag was made possible by “Breakout King” producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora, who were also producers on “Prison Break” (Olmstead was that show’s executive producer).

In this Sunday’s episode of “Breakout Kings,” T-Bag’s just as resourceful (and cruel) as he was on “Prison Break.” In this scene from “Breakout Kings,” he’s just made his escape from a prison van after overpowering two guards who had been transporting him to a medical facility. And he accomplished this feat even though he only has one hand (he lost the other one on “Prison Break”). However, as you’ll see if you watch the show, the absence of one of his hands is hardly a handicap for this unrepentant killer con as he takes the “Breakout Kings” team on a wild chase through a half-dozen Midwestern states and beyond.
