Who Was the First ‘Star’ Eliminated from ‘DWTS’?

For the first time in two seasons, the “Dancing with the Stars” voting public got it right. Tuesday night’s elimination – the first of Season 12 – was not the shocker we experienced last go-around when beloved TV star David Hasselhoff suffered an early ejection from the show in the first week.

***Spoiler Alert***

With little name recognition, notoriety, scandals, star power, and, of course, with low scores (13 and 17), radio DJ “Psycho” Mike Catherwood, who co-hosts the syndicated love/sex advice show “Loveline” with the much more famous Dr. Drew Pinsky, and his partner Lacey Schwimmer were the first couple cut from the dancing competition.

Who the Heck Is Mike Catherwood?

“It’s been such an amazing experience overall, it really has,” Catherwood said in parting. “It sucks to be sent home first but I made a lot of great friends.”

The other couples in the bottom three were Wendy Williams and Tony Dovolani and Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskaya.

Almost as exciting as finding out who would go home first was the anticipation surrounding what might happen during (or after) Chris Brown’s performance – which was pre-taped hours before the live show. Controversy over Brown’s performance has been at a fever pitch since last week’s “Good Morning America” meltdown, where the singer smashed up his dressing room after being pressed on Rihanna questions. Amidst chatter that ABC might not have Brown perform on “DWTS,” his performances of “Forever” and “Yeah 3X” ended up being pretty uneventful… as in the audience did not boo, picketers were not out front of the studio, and co-host Tom Bergeron didn’t say anything snarky as he feared he might.

For “Yeah 3X,” Brown came out in a red and black outfit with the backdrop of a brick wall and faux rain – and used his own dancers instead of using the “DWTS” pros. Before you read too much into that, yes, it’s been done before.

For “Forever,” the singer-dancer came out in a white suit decorated with neon/LED lights running through it, with similarly dressed backup dancers for a very rave-circa 1990s-vibe performance to which the crowd cheered.

Despite Criticized Cast, “DWTS” Crushes the Competition
