It going to be a short engagement for “Grey’s Anatomy’s” Callie and Arizona. The couple became engaged at the end of the musical episode that aired March 31st. Now ABC has released photos of their wedding, which will happen during the May 5th episode, “White Wedding.” According to ABC’s press release, “As Callie and Arizona’s wedding approaches, the couple quickly realize that the day they’ve been looking forward to is not turning out the way they’d envisioned.” In other words, Callie and Arizona are having a typical “Grey’s” wedding.

The photos indicate that their union will have more of the romantic trappings than Christina and Owen’s, or Meredith and Derek’s infamous Post-it note marriage. The women are marrying outdoors, in the presence of all their friends and families, including Arizona’s military officer father. Bailey is officiating. There is one exception: Mark, the father of Callie’s baby, is not seen in any of the photos. Both women are wearing long white dresses and look deliriously happy.

They are not the only happy couple. It looks like Lexie and Avery’s relationship has progressed to the point where they are comfortable being each other’s dates to the wedding. April continues to be the lonely virgin and Teddy shows up her with her shrink date and not her

If the show chooses to reflect the real life Washington State marriage laws, Callie and Arizona will not have a legal wedding, but they will be able to enter into a domestic partnership that gives them all of the rights of a married couple at the state level. ABC is no stranger to same-sex marriages. “Brothers & Sisters” Kevin and Scotty married two seasons ago, and have now adopted a child.  On “All My Children,” Bianca (then Eden Riegel) and Reese (Tamara Braun) wed legally in Connecticut, and now have the distinction of being television’s first divorcing lesbian couple.
