NeNe Leakes isn’t angry – she’s just disappointed.

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star took to “Today” Monday to explain her surprising decision to leave “Celebrity Apprentice.”

“It was not a good situation for me,” she told Ann Curry, Al Roker and Natalie Morales. “It was very toxic. People were being very manipulative and lying and backstabbing.”

NeNe quit “Apprentice” Sunday night, claiming boss Donald Trump showed favoritism to Star Jones.

“I know it’s a show, but we’re also playing for charity,” she said. “Had I stayed any longer, it wouldn’t have been good for me. Women of domestic abuse, our slogan is ‘If the situation isn’t good, you get out.’ I chose to leave. Simple as that…I did what I felt I needed to do at the time, and I don’t regret it.”

NeNe claimed her personal life also interfered with her ability to focus on the competition. “I was going through a divorce on the show. I just wasn’t in the place where I needed to be. The days were very long. You had to be thinking a lot, and we had very little sleep.”

When asked what her beef was with Jones, she said: “Star was very manipulative and a big liar. I was very disappointed in the way she played the game. We were forming a relationship outside of the show. We would have dinner and drinks and double date with my husband and her boyfriend. But I’m very loyal and I don’t like it when I come in contact with people like that.”

Despite her tense body language and terse responses on “Today,” she said she’s not harboring any grudges. “I feel absolutely fine about it [the experience] because it happened last year. It’s a new year now, and I have moved on greatly.”
