No surprises on the cancellation front at NBC: On Friday the network pulled the plug on “The Event” and “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” reports Deadline.com. The freshman sitcom “Outsourced” is reportedly also a goner.
The latest in the “L&O” franchise was troubled from the start, with the show abruptly firing leading man Skeet Ulrich half way through the season, going on hiatus and revamping the cast, but the relaunch remained unsuccessful.
“The Event,” on the other hand, started off strong but fizzled after an unfortunate hiatus. The final episode will air Monday, May 23.
The team behind “The Event” is seeking to create a partnership with a different outlet, according to Deadline, to take over the complex, serialized drama, since there seem to be more twists and turns in this story left to tell.
“Event” executive producer Steve Stark said, “NBC has been an amazing partner, it launched the show beautifully,” while series creator Nick Wauters said this: “We have a dedicated fan base, and we promised them we will deliver one way or another and will continue to tell our stories.”
