Poor Cheryl Cole – not only does much of America have no idea who the British pop singer is, but she also just lost a chance to boost her profile stateside. Cole is out as a judge on Simon Cowell’s new singing competition “X-Factor,” scheduled for fall on Fox, TMZ is reporting.
Cole will reportedly be replaced by former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who was originally scheduled to co-host with Steve Jones, a Welsh TV personality.
Instead, Scherzinger will sit on the judge’s panel with Cowell, Paula Abdul and LA Reid.

Producers were concerned that Cole’s English accent would be too difficult for American audiences to understand, TMZ cited a source close to the production saying.
Cole also reportedly had a “lack of chemistry” with Paula Abdul, and since Abdul is the bigger U.S. draw, Cole was cut.
“X Factor” will join a crowded TV singing landscape, with NBC’s latest entry “The Voice” proving to be a surprise hit.
