One of “All My Children’s” most famous alumni, Josh Duhamel, is returning to the soap in August – about a month before the canceled soap airs its finale. Duhamel played Leo DuPres, Greenlee’s (Rebecca Budig) first love from 1999 to 2003. Leo died in a tragic accident, but, in classic soap fashion, his body was never recovered. Last week the star of the “Transformers” films and the hit romantic comedy “Life As We Know It” hinted to Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show that he would be open to returning to the show.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Duhamel “will appear in an August episode (or two?) of AMC.” Will the show make fans – who despite the show’s numerous attempts to pair Greenlee and Ryan (Cameron Mathison), have always preferred her with Leo – happy by revealing that Leo is alive? Or will he appear as a ghost or in a dream sequence? Will Leo reunite with his brother David (Vincent Irizarry)? Stay tuned. Whatever the circumstances of his return, Duhamel is the winner of this week’s  Nathan Fillion Awesome Soap Alumni Award for continuing to support the soap that launched his career.
