It’s on! We’re ready for a sequined showdown as pint sized pageant queens Eden Wood and Makenzie Myers go crown-to-crown on Wednesday night’s Season 4 premiere of “Toddlers & Tiaras.”
They’ll square off at the ‘80s-themed Universal Royal Beauty Pageant in Plano, Texas, where there’s much more at stake than just $1,000 and a pink princess canopy bed.
“When they hit the stage there is definitely a rivalry,” Eden’s mom, Mickie Wood, tells XfinityTV.
Five year-old Makenzie of Montgomery, Louisiana, is looking for payback.
The last time these two tiny titans sashayed across the same stage, she was crowned Supreme Queen – which might have been pretty cool if six year-old Eden didn’t take home Ultimate Grand Supreme!
“Everybody wants to win the Ultimate Grand Supreme,” director Annette Hill says. “Both contestants are famous in their own right. Eden is a top notch pro. Makenzie is like a pop phenomenon. It is up to the judges what they are going to go for: more personality and baby doll (Makenzie) or top notch professional (Eden).”
Preview The Showdown:
Makenzie and Eden are Ali and Frazier in the uber-competitive world of children’s beauty pageants. But outside the ballroom, the two sassy starlets are actually close friends.
“They get excited when they see each other,” MaKenzie’s mom, Juana Myers, says. “We went out to Hollywood together and whenever the cameras weren’t around, the girls sat and played in the grass together with their dolls.
“Eden has bought Makenzie gifts. She really likes Eden.”
Both moms say they have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours preparing their diva daughters for competition – a process that is often misunderstood by those outside the pageant world.
“Anything we don’t understand, we form an opinion about,” Wood says. “That is like me forming an opinion about New Jersey from watching ‘Jersey Shore’. It is the drama and the hype. It is not always that way. I know that Snooki’s don’t run around everywhere.
“I always say come and see for yourself. We are not the big hairy green-eyed monsters with the nails out, ready to claw and scratch each other’s eyes out. It is competitive. But gymnastics, dance…everything is competitive.”
“Toddlers & Tiaras” airs Wednesdays at 9:00 PM EST on TLC
