Three of History Channel’s most iconic shows are banding together to honor one of their own on his 70th birthday.
The honoree is “Pawn Stars” patriarch Richard Harrison. To mark his dad’s 70th, son Rick is on a quest to find his father a special birthday gift – a rare, restored 1957 Chevy. To find it, Rick’s turning to expert collectible locators Mike Wolfe and Frank Fitz of History’s “American Pickers.” And to restore it, Rick’s heading to his old friend, Rick Dale, the Las Vegas-restorer who became such a popular guest on “Pawn Stars” that he got his own show on History Channel, “American Restoration.”
This incredible, three-way crossover event – titled “The Pick, The Pawn & The Polish” – will air Monday, July 11, as a two-hour special starting at 9 p.m./8c, History Channel announced Thursday.
The channel’s press release did reveal that Mike and Frank do indeed find the right car for Rick, while on one of their regular meanderings for memorabilia on the back roads of Arizona. But the car’s in pretty bad shape, History Channel says, and whether Rick Dale can restore it in time, at a price Rick Harrison can live with, remains an open question.
At least, that’s what History wants you to think. Our take is this: How much do you want to bet this story has a happy ending?
Despite our feeling that we already know how this one will turn out, we wouldn’t miss this very special “trash-to-treasure” crossover of three of our favorite shows anyway.
