Nigel Lythgoe confirms that Lady Gaga will appear on Season 8 of “So You Think You Can Dance” as a guest judge. He first announced the news June 14 at the “SYTYCD” live dance billboard reveal in Hollywood.
“Yes, I asked her when she performed on the ‘American Idol’ finale if she would come on and she said yes,” Lythgoe, executive producer and head judge told xfinitytv. “She is on tour so they said it would probably be later in the season. She is an amazing dancer and performer.”
Lythgoe also announced that Broadway and “Glee” star Kristin Chenoweth will also take seat at the judges’ table this season, along with the previously announced Megan Mullally of “Will & Grace,” who appears on the show this week.
And there’s more: “I believe Ellen [DeGeneres] is coming back and Neil Patrick Harris wants to do it,” he added. “We have a lot of people who want to help the kids become unique. The biggest thing is standing out from the crowd. The kids have to find something that makes them unique and these performers know how to do that.”
And for all you Alex Wong (Season 7) fans- Lythgoe said he will likely appear as well. “Absolutely. Alex Wong is not fit enough to be a compettive dancer,” he said. “Hopefully he is going to be fit enough and hopefully he will be complimentary to whoever is at the show at that point when it comes time to picking the allstars once we get into the top 10.”
