On ‘Deadliest Catch’: Crabby Captain Causes Commotion

Someone’s getting a little crabby on “Deadliest Catch”!

Surprisingly, it’s the usually mild-mannered Keith Colburn, skipper of the crab boat Wizard, who blew his stack and attacked a “Deadliest Catch” cameraman. You’ll see the incident on the show Tuesday night (July 19) at 9/8c on Discovery.

But if you can’t wait ’til then, we have the clip right here:

The victim of Cap’n Keith’s wrath: cameraman Brad Carper, who the captain grabbed by his raingear and shoved backward all the way down one of the ship’s narrow corridors. Why’d he do it? The cameraman wouldn’t fix a cup of coffee for the busy skipper. At least, that seemed to be the reason the captain flipped out, according to the clip.

On the other hand, TMZ reported that the captain was really ticked off about an inopportune phone call from one of the show’s producers – a call that came when the captain was preoccupied with some other pressing business.

The incident happened some time ago – during filming on the current season (which concludes on Tuesday, July 26) – so we assume relations between the captain and the cameraman have been patched up since then.

It’s not that surprising to us that such a skirmish would occur once in a while on “Deadliest Catch,” since the space being shared by two crews – crabbing and camera – is pretty cramped on these boats, and nerves are bound to be frayed occasionally.
