‘Entourage’ Preview: Episode Two Is Full of Surprises

The producers of “Entourage” have cooked up a big surprise.

It might even be the most surprising plot development of the year, if only because of its “impossible-to-predict” nature. I’ll tell you what it is, but not who it is: In Sunday night’s episode of the HBO series about young Hollywood, you’ll learn who Ari’s wife (“Mrs. Ari,” played by Perrey Reeves) is dating.

Once you learn who it is, you’ll have to agree: You never saw that coming! It also sets up a whole host of plot possibilities as this series heads toward the finish line. Sunday’s episode – airing at 10:30 p.m./9:30c – is the second episode of only eight that have been produced for this final season of “Entourage.”

Elsewhere in this Sunday’s episode (which we had the privilege of seeing already):

Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui) and E (Kevin Connolly) are on-again, off-again – leaning toward the latter as she gives him some big news (not as big as the news Ari – Jeremy Piven – hears about his wife, but pretty significant).

Lloyd (Rex Lee) asks if he can run – and hopefully rejuvenate – the Gold agency’s moribund TV department. We’re throwing in this plot point because, as TV fans, we’re appalled that this agency has been so neglectful of TV. Lloyd even has a TV bigwig on the hook – another tantalizing “reveal.”

What’s Christian Slater’s problem? In a surprise cameo, Slater shows Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) what he thinks of him.

Three words: Andrew. Dice. Clay. This is guest-casting of a spectacular kind. More on this on Monday – after the show.

“Entourage” airs Sunday nights at 10:30/9:30c on HBO.
