Ashton Kutcher’s ‘Men’ Character Name and Backstory Revealed

Ashton Kutcher’s “Two and a Half Men” character has a name: Walden Schmidt.

“He is an Internet billionaire with a broken heart,” CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler revealed of the character’s background during the network’s TCA executive session on Wednesday.

Tassler was mum when pressed for further details about Walden’s relationship to Jake (Angus T. Jones) and Alan (Jon Cryer), claiming much of the mystery surrounding Kutcher’s role is part of this season’s marketing campaign. “He is a unique character,” she offered.

“Men” went back into production on Season 9 this week.  Tassler, who was at a table read Monday, boasted about Kutcher’s professionalism on set. “He is extraordinarily gifted, funny, and talented with tremendous enthusiasm,” she said.

Tassler would not confirm earlier reports that the season would open with a funeral for Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen), but instead reasserted the mantra that “All Will Be Revealed” when “Men” returns on Sept. 19.
