Does everybody still love Raymond? ABC will learn the answer to that question in September when the Patricia Heaton sitcom “The Middle” has its season premiere with Ray Romano as guest-star.
Romano and Heaton starred as a battling husband-and-wife on “Everybody Loves Raymond,” but this time around, Ray will play a man from Heaton’s past named Nicky, according to TVGuide.com. Apparently, some years back, this guy ruined the honeymoon for Frankie (Heaton) and her hubby Mike (Neil Flynn).
There was no word on when or if the producers of “The Middle” will seek to further exploit Heaton’s connection to “Everybody Loves Raymond” with fun-loving, but baldly contrived guest appearances from the likes of other “Raymond” stars such as Brad Garrett or Doris Roberts.
Ray, of course, has time for a guest appearance or two now that “Men of a Certain Age,” his series about three middle-aged men who did little more than get together in a diner to complain about their aches and pains, was canceled by TNT recently.
