New mom Tia Mowery is opening up about what she says “wasn’t a wonderful pregnancy.”
“I had a really bad case of nausea,” she tells XfinityTV. “It kept me in the hospital because I was constantly getting dehydrated. A lot of people don’t tell you about that.”
We caught up with the “Sister, Sister” star and newlywed twin Tamera this week in Los Angeles – on Tia’s first night out since giving birth to five week-old son, Cree.
“I’m so on cloud nine,” she tells us. “I was born to be a mom.”
And, a reality star, it seems.
Tia’s pregnancy and Tamera’s September 2010 wedding to Fox News Channel reporter Adam Housley will be featured on the siblings’ upcoming reality series for Style Network.
“Tia & Tamera” premieres August 8 at 9/8c on Style.
How much of these two big life events are we going to see on television?
Tamera: Everything. You are going to see us go through every single possible emotion planning a wedding.
Tia: You hear about wonderful pregnancies and you don’t think that stuff like that can happen. The hard part was going through all that and not being able to be there for my sister during certain events that she was going through. You see that she doesn’t understand that because she is not pregnant.
Tamara: But then she wants the title of Matron of Honor when she can’t do all he events and then I have this best friend who is doing everything.
Tia: Family is everything, come on!
Tamera, are you the permanent, on-call babysitter?
Tamera: I want to be. I haven’t been able to babysit him yet, but I want Tia an Corey to have their date night, because they haven’t been out on a date yet. I am learning right now. I don’t think I am fit yet to be a the best babysitter. I need to work on my diaper changing. I got the feeding down. Tia pumps for me. I can put him to sleep though. That is my talent.
Does this make you want a baby of your own?
Tamera: I did. And when I saw what she goes through, I changed her mind. I will wait two years ad then I will be fine. Cree is so beautiful. He is such an amazing baby. If I am this in love with him, I can only imagine what it feels like for Tia. Because t feels like he is my child. Which is hysterical.
Any overwhelming moments yet?
Tia: I have cried several times. I have cried due to complete exhaustion. I don’t have a baby nurse. I am waking up every two hours, changing him, feeling him and doing all that kind of stuff.
Who has given you the best baby advice?
Tia: My husband is unbelievable. I will freak out about stuff and then Corey will be like “ust do this. Just do that.” And I will be like “You don’t know what you are talking about.” I will call the pediatrician and exactly what Corey is saying, the pediatrician will say.
How are you enjoying being a newlywed?
Tamera: I love it. I just feel more grounded. Like I have a lot more strength than before. Because I have this amazing, supportive partner that no matter what happens in the world, I go home to this human being. He believes in me more than I believe in myself sometimes.
You sound like a newlywed…
Tamera: I know! My friends parents see me and they are like “How’s married life?” And I am like “I love it!” And they are like, “Give it some time.”
What do you like to do together?
Tamera: We love to travel. Our honeymoon was amazing. We went to Greece. We went to Turkey. Now we are going to go to Scotland, London and France. We have so much to learn about other cultures and we love to people watch. So that is number one. And then he owns a winery. I am a wino. So we love to taste different wines and pair them together.
Do you have a new appreciation for “Teen Mom” now?
Tia: Yes! I do not see how they do it. Being a single mother and being young. I can now understand how mother’s cry. If you ever watch teen mom and the girl is telling her mom she is pregnant ad the mom is crying? That is because the mom knows what she is about to go through. You are with your child 24-7, so being a teen you lose a lot of yourself. I really feel for them.
