The British press are reporting that reality TV judge David Hasselhoff is allegedly being dumped from “Britain’s Got Talent.”
It was speculated as far back as May that Hasselhoff would be axed from the gig, after claims that he’s – boring! – and there’s been “a dramatic ratings plunge” as a result. He’s also been criticized for having difficulty understanding the contestants’ British accents.
Show execs are of the opinion, claims the report, that the judging panel of the ex-“Baywatch” star, Michael McIntyre and series veteran Amanda Holden “lacks sparkle.”
“We thought he’d bring loads of laughs and warmth but it didn’t work out,” the source says of Hasselhoff’s addition to the cast. “He was fun but had no connection with the acts.”
The Hoff, 59, lost his spot as a judge on “America’s Got Talent” last year to comedian Howie Mandel, and he was subsequently hired by “Talent” executive producer Simon Cowell to replace him on the British version.
“With falling ratings, discussions have taken place at a senior level and the view is that Hasselhoff won’t return next year,” a source told The Daily Mail in May after ratings dropped by more than one million viewers after the new season with The Hoff premiered.
“BGT” has yet to confirm the news but a source claims, “It is too early to confirm the panel for the next series.”
It’s not all bad news for The Hoff. He’s soon appearing on the fourth season of FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” as a…wait for it…porn star. Bring it on.
