TV titan Ellen DeGeneres scored a pilot commitment from NBC for a sitcom starring her wife, comedy vet Portia de Rossi.
Deadline.com reports that the concept generated interest from all the networks but landed at NBC. The show has no title but is reportedly about “dueling sisters,” one of whom will be played by de Rossi.
The story also says the co-creator of the Christina Applegate ABC sitcom “Samantha Who?” – Don Todd – has been put in charge of the new de Rossi pilot. Degeneres, 53, has a production company called A Very Good Production based at Warner Bros., where her daytime talk show is also based. De Rossi, 38, is best-known for her roles on “Ally McBeal” and “Arrested Development.”
“The Ellen Degeneres Show” is about to start its ninth season.
