Peter Berg is a “Prime Suspect”…for love.

Hot off a hot night winning at the Emmys, “Friday Night Lights” executive producer Peter Berg is hopping back in front of the camera for one episode to play a love interest for Maria Bello this season on “Prime Suspect.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, Berg will play Dan Costello, a married deputy chief and former flame of Bello’s Jane Timoney. When rumors of their past affair float through the precinct, it complicates Jane’s recent promotion to homicide.

“Prime Suspect” is a high-profile remake of the British detective series that starred Helen Mirren. It debuts this Thursday at 10 p.m. on NBC.
