There was an ulterior motive in wanting Chaz Bono to make it through this week of “Dancing with the Stars.” His famous mom, Cher, recently tweeted that if her kid survives elimination, she’ll show up in the audience next week to cheer on her son front and center.
“Yeah CHAZ. Looks like I’ll b in the Audience next Week,” the ’70s icon tweeted shortly after Tuesday’s show. Not only did Chaz not go home as many expected, but he wasn’t even in the bottom three.
When asked if his mom was a woman of her word, Chaz told XfinityTV.com, “Oh yeah. She said it. She will be here. I’m excited.” He’s excited but doesn’t feel nervous to dance for her. “No, no pressure.” Partner Lacey Schwimmer jumped in to say, “To him, she’s mom. But, to me, she’s CHER! I’m nervous!”
Of being the season’s underdog – scoring lowest this week and yet still making it through – Chaz said he’s as surprised as some critics. “It’s amazing,” he told us. “Every week I’m happy to be here and every Tuesday it’s a surprise. It feels good. I’m just going to keep trying to do my best.”
Next week, the pair will dance a Paso Doble. “I’m exited to be a matador,” he said with a smile. “And I’ll be the bull!” joked Lacey.
