‘American Idol’ Winner Lee DeWyze Dropped from Record Label

The “Idol” winners’ track record is taking another hit … and not the good kind.

American Idol” Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze has been dropped from his label RCA Records, Billboard reports.

RCA Records CEO Peter Edge confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter last week that DeWyze is no longer with the record label. His contract expired in September and was not extended. DeWyze’s debut album, “Live It Up,” sold just over 168,000 copies.

The 25-year-old singer will still be repped by 19 Entertainment. DeWyze, who’s engaged to model/actress Jonna Walsh, is “in a good place right now,” says his spokesperson.

There are several “Idol” winners who remain with RCA, however, according to Billboard: Kris Allen (Season 8), David Cook (Season 7), Jordin Sparks (Season 6), Carrie Underwood (Season 4) and the first ever “American Idol,” Kelly Clarkson.
