The mission on last night’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” was to create a little people-friendly home for the Korpai family. The Korpai’s five-year old daughter Hailey has dwarfism, and without the use of stepping stools, their multi-story house was virtually inaccessible to her.
The project itself posed an interesting challenge for Ty Pennington & co., particularly because the space needed to accommodate both Hailey and her average size parents and brother.
Enter “Little People, Big World” star Matt Roloff, who offered to help the EM: HE team redesign the family’s new digs. Roloff had a keen understanding of what elements to implement, since he and his wife Amy have retrofitted their own farmhouse. Also on tap were Bill Klein and Jen Arnold (“The Little Couple“), who mom Darlene cited as huge role models for Hailey.
The resulting creation, complete with a brand new annex for the Understanding Dwarfism Center (an organization the family runs from their home), was one of the show’s most innovative and touching overhauls to date.
