Just five days after undergoing a double lumpectomy, Giuliana Rancic is already back on the job, returning to work at E! Monday morning and anchoring E! News in the evening. Her return to the set was met with applause, not only from crew members working on the show and Ryan Seacrest but literally from around the world, where fans from France to Brazil to Australia tweeted the appreciation and respect for the “Fashion Police” co-host and her fight against breast cancer.
Rancic was quick to display her happiness about being back. “The E! viewers have helped me to get through this and stay strong more than they will ever know,” she said on the show. “I will be eternally grateful to them for their love.”
She later tweeted “Feels so great to be back at work today. The@Enews set was such a blast & my friends in the newsroom wore pink ribbons 4 me:) #sosweet”
It was only a week ago that a recent mammogram examination had revealed that she had developed early stage breast cancer, which led to her surgery. Sometime next month, she is expected to begin radiation treatment.
Her Style Network reality show “Giuliana & Bill” showcased her and husband Bill Rancic’s struggles to have children, which included two failed in vitro fertilization treatments. Rancic said it was her attempts to get pregnant for a third time that led to the discovery of the breast cancer.
