You might have known him as Charles and/or Chachi, but now a whole new generation of TV fans are about to get to know Scott Baio as well.

Nickelodeon is turning to the lifelong TV star for Nick at Nite’s first-ever original live-action comedy pilot, “Daddy’s Home.” The sitcom will feature Baio as David Hobbs, an actor who once played America’s favorite TV dad for a decade. Now, his character must transition to a stay-at-home father as part of a deal he made with his soap opera actress wife so that she can reclaim the spotlight.

“It’s nice to be back home in an arena where I’m completely comfortable and with a show idea that I love,” said Baio.

For over three decades, Baio has been an actor, successful producer, writer and director. Baio may be best known for his role as Chachi Arcola on “Happy Days,” and the spin-off series “Joanie Loves Chachi.” Baio also starred in his own 1980s sitcom, “Charles in Charge.” Other series under his belt include the likes of CBS drama “Diagnosis Murder,” “Arrested Development” and, more recently, VH1’s series, “Scott Baio is 45…and Single” and “Scott Baio is 46…and Pregnant.”

“Scott Baio is an actor known and beloved by today’s Nick at Nite viewers, many of whom are parents,” said Marjorie Cohn, president of original programming and development at Nickelodeon. “His new project will put a contemporary and comedic twist on parenthood that will make for a great addition to our existing slate of family programming.”
