Spartacus will be back with a “Vengeance” in January.

Starz announced Thursday that “Spartacus: Vengeance” – featuring the debut of Liam McIntyre as gladiator Spartacus – will premiere on Jan. 27.

The Australian actor assumes the role of Spartacus, originated by Andy Whitfield, who passed away at age 39 in September in Australia, after battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Whitfield played the title role for the first season in “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” which debuted in January 2010. The season finale ended with Spartacus leading a rampage at the House of Batiatus, and “Vengeance” picks up a few weeks after the brutal massacre.

“Spartacus: Vengeance” also features returning cast members Lucy Lawless, Peter Mensah, Manu Bennett, Dustin Clare, Nick E. Tarabay and Katrina Law. Look for it Friday, Jan. 27 at 10/9c on Starz.
