Production company Prospect Park announced that four more “One Life to Live” cast members have signed contracts to join the online version of the show that it hopes to launch in early 2012 on the fledgling internet television network, The On-Line Network. Florencia Lozano (Tea), Tuc Watkins (David), Josh Kelly (Cutter) and Shenell Edmonds (Destiny) are slated to join Erika Slezak (Vicki), Jerry VerDorn (Clint), Kassie DePaiva (Blair), Melissa Archer (Natalie), Michael Easton (John),Ted King (Tomas), Kelley Missal (Dani), Sean Ringgold (Shaun) and Andrew Trischetta (Jack.).
It is no surprise that Lozano would stay with the show. Tea is one of the show’s most popular characters. The actress is a dedicated New Yorker who also acts and stars in theater. Edmonds is part of the show’s teen set. Her character is currently pregnant, a storyline that seems likely to continue on the web series. It is somewhat unexpected that Watkins and Kelly agreed to be part of this venture. Watkins works constantly in primetime. Robin Strasser, who plays David’s wife, Dorian, has ststed that she will not be a part of the on-line show. His recurring role as Bob, half of Wisteria Lane’s resident gay couple on “Desperate Housewives” has limited his appearances on OLTL for the past few years. However, with the primetime soap in its final season, the opportunity to revisit a character he clearly loves must have been tempting. Kelly recently booked a starring role in a pilot for MTV,so many industry insiders assumed he would opt to pursue primetime work.
There has been much speculation about whether Prospect Park will actually succeed in its ambitious plan to move OLTL and “All My Children” on-line, especially since only two AMC actors have officially signed deals. The On-Line Network’s press release announcing these additions to OLTL ambiguously states, “TOLN announced a January 2012 launch date earlier this week pending Guild agreements.”
